Reign of the Supermen #381: King Kal'El

Source: JLA: Riddle of the Beast (2001)
Type: ElseworldsIn Riddle of the Beast, Alan Grant reimagined the DC Universe as a fantasy world, and has young Robin plucked from his idyllic home by the mysterious Riddler to act as a herald to warn all the lands of the evil Beast's return. One of these lands is waning Kryptonia, whose Golden Age ended when Luthor Rex assassinated King Jorel and his queen. Kal'El, a foundling not of royal blood adopted by Jorel, now rules. Weak and sickly, he's allowed Luthor to annex most of the countryside. And when Luthor attacks the city of Krypton, he quickly surrenders. Robin too, and it's thanks to one of the riddles imparted to him that he frees the king from prison and illness. See, his adopted parents had made an amulet from a strange rock found near the craft that bore him to Kryptonia, and he's been wearing the deadly green thing all his life! I think you can guess how things turn out for "drawn-on hair" Luthor:
Kal'El is instrumental in defeating the Beast's forces, and he even discovers that there are other suns, other worlds out in the "void", and hopes to one day discover where he really came from. And they all lived happily ever after. Except the people that died in the war, of course.

Once again, a book I had not heard of. You've likely been asked this before, but do you own (or have at one point owned) each of these Reigns?

Like I said then, sometimes I use outside sources for research.

But I've always been an Elseworlds junkie.
