Some Quality Guest-Stars

In the Golden Age, most comics features several characters, but only in the rarest instances did they appear in each others' stories. Every character was an island, and even in teams like the Justice Society of America and the 7 Soldiers of Victory kept the together-time to a minimum, preferring to split up to take care of different related threats. But Quality Comics were a little more open to it. There was the whole Phantom Lady/Spider Widow/Raven stuff, of course, but also some fun cameos here and there. Case in point Uncle Sam Quarterly #2, where poetry became justification for other heroes appearing in some full page spreads.
Appearing on the bread line are, among others, Hercules, Quicksilver and the Ray. They've seen better days! At least Black Condor and the Ray return later in more heroic shots.
Nice of Uncle Sam to let his future Freedom Fighters co-stars have the spotlight.

Just a fun nugget from the Quality Age...

That's actually pretty white of Uncle Sam to do that for his future teammates. Definitely interesting to compare how they told and illustrated comic stories versus nowadays, not to mention how characters were used compared to now.

Cool snapshot of the times though.
