Shut Up, Star Boy!

I don't know why this isn't a popular meme yet, but have you ever read Star Boy's dialog in the 80s? (Maybe across all eras?) Credit where credit is due dept.: My Twitter friend Greg A @garaujo, who tweets some fun comic book stuff daily - check him out - recently (Sept 4th 2017) told Star Boy to shut up a number of times in the context of various panels he posted. THEN I read a story in which Star Boy features and, lo and behold, that's all I wanted to tell Star Boy myself. And by "tell", I mean "scream at".

So let's play a round of "Shut up, Star Boy" using exhibit A: The New Adventures of Superboy #50 (featured in yesterday's Dial H article, natch!)
Shut up, Star Boy! None of you even WEAR capes!

But it gets worse, as Star Boy plays the Ugly 30th-Centurian AND the team's cabbage head:
Not important! Shut up and move on!
SHUT. UP. Will you be doing this for every irrelevant 20th-Century thing Superboy mentions?!
CONTEXT, YOU MORON. WILL. YOU. SHUT. THE. HELL. UP?!!!
Way to jinx it. Well, at least he's quiet now.

Oh well, at least they were trying to give the Legionnaires different personalities; that was kind of new for DC at that point. Brainiac 5 was smart, the guys were guys, and the girls were girls; that was how things had gone for a long time.

But there's no character who needs to shut up more than Defensor. Who's Defensor, you ask? Here:

Hey, Star Boy USED to wear a cape, at least. He just got confused as to which outfit he put on that morning.

(It's always been somewhat odd that people use "cape" as a synonym for "superhero", especially in the comics themselves, when so few superheroes (especially ones from the Silver Age on) don't - and have never - worn capes.)
hey buddy, nice post you write there
